Set in the heart of Puglia’s Salento peninsular, on a working olive grove, Castravelli is a beautiful property comprising a masseria and a trullo able to accommodate up to 10 people. Castravelli combines traditional design and craftsmanship with tasteful furnishings and all the modern comforts.

Built in the local pietra leccese stone, the masseria is spread across a generous single storey , U-shaped layout offering three large en-suite double bedrooms – one of which includes a separate smaller bedroom ideal for two children. In addition there is a large fully equipped, open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Rustic marble floors and high vaulted natural stone ceilings epitomise the interior of a traditional masseria while both underfloor heating and air-conditioning ensure  complete comfort throughout the year.

Each room of the main building opens into a walled courtyard featuring vaulted cloisters on either side and provides a shaded, tranquil area for lunch or evening cocktails. Two olive trees surrounded by lawn and an abundance of climbing Wisteria, Begognia and Bouganvillae make for a very pretty setting.

Large shuttered doors to the back of the masseria open up onto a vine covered pergola patio area offering a substantial outdoor dining table and a stunning marble infinity swimming pool with seamless, sweeping views across both the landscaped garden featuring lavender, citronella, fig and citrus trees and beyond to the ancient olive grove. Vincent Sheppard furniture and large sun shades allow for wonderfully lazy days around the pool while the garden also offers both a traditional stone and gas barbeque, organic vegetable garden, outdoor shower, Bose outdoor speakers, and a rectangular, river-sand filled ‘bocce’ court.

Stairs to the flat roof of the masseria offer views of the five acre property, the nearest village of Carpignano and miles upon miles of olive grove and makes for a wonderfully romantic star-gazing spot at night.

A traditional looking ‘trullo’ overlooking the pool furnished with a double bed and equipped with a shower bathroom and air-conditioning offers a secluded and unique living experience.

Surrounded by a stone wall and with electric gates, Masseria Castravelli offers complete privacy and tranquillity while SKY TV and WiFi gives you access to the wider world should you need. Equally a quick drive offers easy access to the supermarkets, pharmacy, banks, shops and cafes of nearby villages, Carpignano and Martano and the property is a short distance from some of Puglia’s finest sand and rock beaches. The region offers some of Italy’s most delectable cuisine and there are numerous restaurants within close proximity of the masseria.

Thirty minutes car drive north of Masseria Castravelli stands the delightful, baroque city of Lecce, known as ‘the Florence of the South’ while fifteen minutes to the south east lies the enchanting historic coastal town (and UNESCO World heritage site) of Otranto. In addition, the coastal road between Otranto and S.Maria di Leuca is one of the most breath-taking in Puglia and the historic town of Gallipoli on the western side of the peninsula offers spectacular sunsets.

We can help you plan a wide range of services and activities including beauty and relaxation sessions, guided tours and excursions, boat trips, golf, horse riding, sailing, tennis and so on. Just ask!
